SIOR/CCIM Wine Tasting & Patriot Guard Rider Contribution
July 26, 2011

In June, Kristin Geenty SIOR, Kevin C. Geenty SIOR, and Mikki Geenty hosted a catered wine tasting party at their home in Guilford, CT, for the members of the Connecticut Chapters of SIOR and CCIM. A $10 donation to benefit the Patriot Guard Riders of CT (PGR) was requested of the 60 people in attendance. A sum of $600.00 was raised and donated.

Both the CCIM and SIOR Chapters at subsequent meetings felt compelled to match the $600.00 raised at the party. The photo shows Marcia Young, the Treasurer of the Patriot Guard Riders of CT, receiving two checks for $600.00 each. The check presentation took place at the Essex Yacht Club during the annual CCIM/SIOR networking get-together, which was organized by Jeff Ryer, SIOR, CCIM and John Cafasso CCIM.

The Patriot Guard Riders is a nationwide volunteer organization of 232,000 volunteers in the United States and 1,300 volunteers in Connecticut. The sole purpose of the PGR is to show respect to active military, veterans, and retired military personnel. The PGR is most highly visible at veterans’ funerals when their presence is requested by the family through the funeral director. However, the PGR performs various other “missions” including greeting military personnel returning home from combat, lending all kinds of assistance to homeless veterans, and anything else imaginable having to do with veterans.
