Kristin Geenty, SIOR represented the buyer, Anthony Augliera, Inc., which purchased the property as the new base of operations for Augliera Moving & Storage, relocating the company from its current location in West Haven. In addition to traditional moving services, the 100-year old company is well known as a leading carting & storage service provider to the Broadway theatrical community and the entertainment industry as a whole—dating back to the vaudeville era.
In addition to brokering the sale, The Geenty Group, Realtors worked closely with East Haven Economic Development Director Sal Brancati to help Augliera acquire an additional adjacent six-acre lot from the Town. In exchange, East Haven adds 35-50 new jobs as well as $62,000 in tax revenue.
The company plans to build an additional 70,000 SF on the property for a total of 120,000, which will provide climate-controlled storage for theatrical sets and costumes, in addition to office operations and secure moving storage. The campus-like facility will house 15 tractors, 6 box trucks and 100 storage containers.
